About the Role GE Vernova in Schenectady, NY is seeking current students who have completed at least one full year of relevant coursework (30+ credits) in AOS/AAS programs (or similar) to participate in a 12-week, paid internship designed to prepare for a Plumbing Steamfitter career. The role offers meaningful hands-on learning with potential for full-time employment after graduation.
What You'll Do
- Participate in a 12-week paid internship and be paired with current team members in diverse roles to learn the trade.
- Gain experience with hydraulic systems, machine schematics, industrial machinery, steam, water, and air systems.
- Demonstrate abilities through hands-on projects and on-the-job learning.
- Potential for full-time employment upon graduation.
What We're Looking For
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must have a high school diploma, GED, or GED equivalent.
- Must have completed at least one year of one of the degree programs (or similar) listed above.
- Must pass background check and drug screen.
- Must be able to wear PPE (e.g., safety glasses, gloves, and safety shoes) and work in a tobacco-free environment.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Note: Students with prior relevant experience and a cumulative average of 3.0 or better will be given preference.
Nice to Have
- Prior relevant experience and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Compensation & Benefits
- Wage: $28.01 per hour for a 40-hour work week.
- Housing stipend: $600 per month for students whose residence is more than 50 miles away from the site.
- This is a 12-week paid program with potential for full-time employment after graduation.
