About this role

About the Role The Industrial Maintenance Reliability Technician II is responsible for achieving high reliability for plant equipment through preventive/predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. This role supports the Sonoco Performance System (SPS), TPM, and Maintenance Excellence within the Hartsville plant. What You'll Do

  • Understand and follow safety policies and procedures; lead by example.
  • Create, document, and perform preventive/predictive maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failures.
  • Troubleshoot equipment quickly and safely; implement corrective actions and document new procedures.
  • Communicate plans with operations to resolve abnormal or degraded equipment conditions.
  • Participate in proactive maintenance activities (FMEA, RCCA, ATS) and maintain detailed historical records.
  • Maintain strong housekeeping; use proper tools and discard damaged tools.
  • Perform precision welding and operate shop tools (lathes, drills, milling machines).
  • Read and understand mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical schematics.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, piping, electrical, and robotic equipment; ensure proper lubrication.
  • Install/repair/upgrade equipment per OEM specs; develop/modify/troubleshoot/install PLC programs.
  • Install/troubleshoot/repair AC and DC drives/motors; fabricate and install electrical, piping, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve inspections, lubrication, and hard-to-access areas. What We're Looking For
  • Associate’s degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or related technical field; Certified Welder; Sonoco Electrical Safety Work Practices – Category 2.
  • 6+ years of manufacturing maintenance experience or 6+ years of military technical experience.
  • Strong communication and troubleshooting skills; proactive maintenance and reliability mindset.
  • Ability to promote and implement change; safety-conscious. Nice to Have
  • Certified Welder (if not already required) Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $32.92 - $37.84 per hour (USD)
  • Shift: Rotating 1st and 2nd (7:00 am - 3:00 pm and 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm)
  • Location: Hartsville Converting Operations, Hartsville, SC
