About the Role
The Industrial Maintenance Reliability Technician (IMRT) reports to the Plant Engineer and is responsible for supporting maximum plant reliability by performing maintenance tasks and applying Sonoco’s Maintenance Excellence Process. You will use advanced multi-craft training to perform proactive maintenance, troubleshoot failures, conduct root cause analysis, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to minimize repeat failures. What You'll Do
- Understand and comply with safety policies and procedures; perform all tasks safely and set the standard for safe behavior
- Proactively maintain, improve, install, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, robotic/automation, hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam systems/processes/equipment (location specific)
- Install/troubleshoot/maintain AC and DC drives/motors
- Troubleshoot PLC programs; modify and/or write PLC programs as required by location
- Weld as required by location; fabricate and install electrical, piping, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment as needed
- Perform shop work using machining and shop equipment (lathes, drills, milling machines) as required by location
- Safely troubleshoot equipment issues; implement corrective actions and conduct thorough root cause analysis with follow-up
- Actively participate in Sonoco’s continuous improvement efforts and maintain ownership of the Maintenance Excellence Process What We're Looking For
- Multi-craft maintenance experience with strong electrical, mechanical, and automation capabilities
- Proficiency in troubleshooting PLC programs and familiarity with AC/DC drives and motors
- Welding, fabrication, and basic machining skills; ability to fabricate/install various equipment
- Strong safety mindset and ability to identify and reduce hazards
- Problem-solving skills including root cause analysis and effective corrective action Nice to Have
- Experience with robotic/automation systems and steam systems (location dependent) Compensation & Benefits
- Wage: $31.80 - $44.15 per hour (depending on experience) with a $0.75/hour shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts
- Shift: 3rd shift (10:45pm - 7:00am)
