Industrial Maintenance Mechanic

About the Role PPG is hiring an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic for Barberton/Norton, OH. You will be a critical part of the production team, ensuring that equipment and machinery operate safely and efficiently, performing preventive maintenance and repairs. This role includes 2nd and 3rd shift options with overtime based on business needs.

What You'll Do

• Repair, modify and install equipment or machinery to maintain and operate the facility.
• Repair sophisticated equipment building systems by diagnosing problems and replacing or repairing parts.
• Perform preventative maintenance on belts, piping, filters, mixers, valves, bearings, motors, gear boxes, dies, extruders, feeders, rolls, drive chains, classifiers, mills, and mechanical seals and pumps.
• Work in confined spaces, elevated platforms, ladders, scaffolding and roofs.
• Troubleshoot equipment and proof test as necessary to solve problems and proactively prevent them.
• Promote and utilize 5-S standards for the line to improve efficiency, cleanliness and safety.
• Perform tasks associated with preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Recognize problems, identify root causes and develop options to address root cause within time constraints, and implement solutions.
• Accurately maintain records and reports.
• Work from detailed technical documents, blueprints, and schematics.
• May observe production machines in assigned areas to detect malfunctions.
• Basic welding and fabrication.

What We're Looking For

• Five years of previous Industrial Maintenance experience, preferably in a chemical facility.
• Certified Maintenance Apprenticeship Program or Mechanical Institute Certificate.
• Experience in pump and gearbox rebuilds.
• HVAC or Electrical experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to read, interpret and understand technical documents/manuals and CAD drawings.
• Ability to work in confined space, at various heights, lifting and manual labor.
• Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, MicroMain, SAP, or similar CMMS.
• Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment, including a respirator.
• Must be able to work overtime as needed.
• Have good attendance and safety record.

Nice to Have

• Experience in chemical facilities (preferred).

Compensation & Benefits

• Starting pay: $34.80 per hour.
• Sign-on bonuses: $1000 total, $500 after 90 days, $500 after 180 days. Retention bonus: $1000 after 365 days.
• Shift: 2nd shift 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm, Monday – Friday; 3rd shift 11:00 pm – 7:00 am, Sunday – Thursday. Overtime based on business needs.
