Job title: Industrial Engineer
About the Role As assigned by the Director, the Industrial Engineer services local unions by conducting time studies and job evaluations to assist in settling grievances. The role entails establishing work measurement programs and analyzing data to improve labor utilization across UFCW industries.
What You'll Do
- Establishes work measurement programs and analyzes work samples to develop standards for labor utilization.
- Analyzes workforce utilization, facility layout, and operational data such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment in all industries represented by the UFCW.
- Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
- Confers with local unions, management, and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations.
- Conducts classes on time study and job evaluations.
What We're Looking For
- Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree and two to four years of industrial engineering experience; or five to seven years of industrial engineering experience.
- Professional Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; excellent basic and advanced mathematical skills; advanced analytical and problem-solving skills; results-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to prioritize projects and activities.
- Personal Characteristics: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with a diverse group of people; requires initiative, honesty, the ability to learn quickly, a good work ethic, and the proven ability to successfully carry out assignments with little to no supervision.
- Job Demands: Ability to work under high pressure in a fast-paced work environment, with multiple priorities and critical deadlines; must be able to engage in extensive, continuous travel throughout the U.S. and Canada, on short notice.
