About the Role Industrial Electromechanic at Sonoco in West Chicago, IL, supporting maximum plant reliability by performing maintenance tasks as an owner of Sonoco’s Maintenance Excellence Process. You’ll apply advanced multi-craft skills to proactively maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment, and participate in continuous improvement. This is a night shift on-site role. What You'll Do
- Understand and comply with safety policies and procedures; perform all tasks in a safe manner; set the standard for safe behavior; actively own safety improvement by identifying and reducing risks in behavior, equipment, and processes.
- Proactively maintain, improve, install, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, robotic/automation, hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam systems/processes/equipment (location-specific).
- Install/troubleshoot/maintain AC and DC drives/motors.
- Troubleshoot PLC programs; modify and/or write PLC programs as required by location.
- Weld as required by location.
- Fabricate and install electrical, piping, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment; perform shop work using machining equipment (lathes, drills, milling machines) as required by location.
- Safely troubleshoot and assess equipment issues; implement effective corrective actions; conduct root cause analysis and follow up to minimize repeat failures.
- Ensure corrective actions minimize the risk of repeat failures. What We're Looking For
- Experience maintaining and repairing mechanical, electrical, robotic/automation, hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam systems; strong multi-craft capabilities.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting PLCs and, if location requires, modifying/writing PLC programs.
- Welding, fabrication, and shop machining skills.
- Commitment to safety and continuous improvement; ability to conduct root-cause analysis. Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Range: $38.51 - $41.15 per hour.
- Shift: Night (7PM-3AM).
- On-site role in West Chicago, IL.
