Income Auditor/Accounting Specialist

We are looking for an experienced Income Auditor/Accounting Specialist to join a premier hospitality property in San Antonio, Texas. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is ideal for an accounting specialist who excels at reviewing revenue activity, validating financial records, and supporting accurate reporting in a fast-paced hotel environment. The role will contribute to daily audit functions, reconciliations, and broader accounting operations while partnering with operational departments across the property.

Responsibilities:

• Examine daily hotel revenue activity and confirm transactions are recorded accurately and in line with established accounting standards.

• Reconcile income generated from guest accommodations, dining outlets, events, retail activity, and other on-site services.

• Compare management reports with supporting records, identifying and resolving variances, irregular entries, shortages, or overages.

• Balance credit card batches and investigate revenue-related account differences, chargebacks, and payment discrepancies.

• Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close tasks to support timely and accurate financial reporting.

• Review vouchers, approvals, and backup documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and policy compliance.

• Evaluate food and beverage sales, cash handling records, and pricing exceptions to detect reporting issues.

• Work closely with Front Office, Reservations, Food & Beverage, Sales, and Accounting teams to address revenue questions and correct inconsistencies.

• Support account aging review, collections research, delinquent balance follow-up, inventory assistance, and other assigned accounting projects.

• At least 3 years of experience in accounting, auditing, accounts receivable, or a related finance function.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework in Accounting or Finance is preferred.

• Background in hospitality, hotel, or resort accounting is strongly preferred.

• Working knowledge of reconciliations, revenue accounting, journal entries, and audit support processes.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, along with experience using computerized accounting or ERP systems such as PeopleSoft.

• Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing activity, cash receipts, and credit card reconciliation.

• Strong analytical ability, careful attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple deadlines independently.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
