Job title: Import Specialist
About the Role The Import Specialist processes air and ocean import shipments for our customers, strives to meet or exceed quality standards and customer requirements. The role may oversee the Customs House Brokerage (CHB) process and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and JAS procedures, including timely completion of government filings.
What You'll Do
- Prepare, review and process import documents (classification, commercial invoices, etc.), ensuring files are accurate and properly sequenced.
- Process customs entries and verify release details; resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Receive and track customer bookings/shipments; update clients on shipment status and delays; dispatch for delivery; collect proof of delivery (POD); cost and invoice all files.
- Bill/invoice each file to respective customers, respecting payment terms.
- Resolve and reconcile incorrect payables by working with vendors and overseas offices.
- Assist sales and department managers in compiling quotes.
- Provide accurate job costing forecasts; manage payables, receivables and accruals per company rules.
- Provide responsive customer service; dispatch freight for delivery; maintain communication with truckers.
- Follow company guidelines and SOPs; perform other duties as requested.

- Knowledge of import entry procedures, compliance, rules and regulations
Nice to Have:
- ISF (Importer Security Filing) preferred
- First Port of Arrival (FPOA) entry processes preferred
- FDA experience preferred
- Knowledge of OGA transactions preferred
