About this role
UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital seeks a Part-Time Housekeeper I to join the Environmental Services team. This 0.5 FTE, on-site role is based in the greater Chicagoland area and primarily covers evening shifts at the IMH location. The position involves maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff in both inpatient and outpatient areas throughout the hospital.
Responsibilities
- Perform 10-step general cleaning procedures in all care areas (inpatient and outpatient, including ICU, ED, Behavioral Health, Perioperative) and non-patient care areas.
- Move furniture, including beds.
- Take down and rehang blinds, curtains, drapes, and cubicles.
- Wash walls and ceilings.
- Complete various projects related to the Environmental Services function and perform other duties as assigned.
- Conduct floor care tasks including stripping, refinishing, burnishing, and spray buffing.
- Vacuum carpets and perform shampooing with carpet equipment.
- Collect general waste and recycling, transporting to disposal points.
- Collect and transport biohazardous waste to designated pickup points.
- Operate floor care equipment and battery-operated machines, including riding equipment.
- Work from ladders, scaffolding, and extension platforms.
Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to lift 50 pounds, bend to the floor, and reach above head to perform duties requiring continuous physical effort.

Ability to complete assigned tasks without direct supervision.
