Job Description
Join UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital, as a Clinical Quality Improvement Specialist in our Nursing Administration department.
The Clinical Quality Improvement Specialist at Ingalls Memorial Hospital / UChicago Medicine participates in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical transformation activities for assigned services or patient populations, providing dedicated clinical support to accelerate priority quality and patient safety initiatives.
In collaboration with nursing leadership, clinical teams, and medical staff, this role supports the development and execution of strategies that enhance patient outcomes, safety, and care quality across the organization, coaching frontline clinical teams so that improved practices become embedded in daily care delivery. This position bridges quality strategy and bedside execution in support of UChicago Medicine’s mission of clinical excellence.
Essential Job Functions
Collaborates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical services and quality initiatives that align with UChicago Medicine’s mission of clinical excellence.
Conducts regular unit-based rounding in partnership with unit leadership to observe practice, provide real-time coaching, and reinforce standard work at the point of care; synthesizes barriers and trends identified through rounding to inform broader quality improvement strategy.
Facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration to design, deploy, and monitor quality improvement projects that promote best practices and high reliability, providing dedicated project capacity that accelerates the pace of improvement beyond what unit teams could achieve through standing structures alone.
Partners with unit leadership to establish sustainment plans so that process improvements are owned and maintained by unit-based teams following the initial improvement period.
Collects, analyzes, and reports data related to performance and achievement of project goals, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, compliance, and documentation standards.
Partners with key stakeholders to standardize evidence-based practices and ensure consistency in care delivery across Ingalls Memorial Hospital and the broader UChicago Medicine network.
Ensures accurate and timely submission of quality data to internal and external databases for benchmarking and regulatory compliance, and generates and presents performance reports from quality databases, including monthly and ad hoc analyses, to inform leadership decisions.
Summarizes and interprets data trends to guide improvement in nurse-sensitive indicators and patient safety outcomes, aligning this work with clinical excellence priorities so nursing-sensitive quality efforts remain integrated with the broader quality program rather than functioning as a separate track.
Required Qualifications
BSN required
Registered Nurse (RN) with current Illinois licensure

Compensation & Benefits Overview
UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.
The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
