Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality Geography lessons in line with the Cambridge IGCSE Geography curriculum.

• Prepare students effectively for IGCSE examinations through structured teaching, revision and examination practice.

• Develop students’ ability to interpret maps, graphs, photographs, data and geographical information.

• Teach both physical and human geography concepts using practical, relevant and engaging approaches.

• Conduct and support fieldwork and geographical investigations where appropriate.

• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs and abilities of individual students.

• Monitor, assess and record students’ academic progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.

• Analyse assessment and examination data to identify areas for improvement and implement appropriate interventions.

• Maintain high academic and behavioural expectations within the classroom.

• Use technology, current geographical issues and real-world examples to enrich learning.

• Contribute to departmental planning, curriculum development and academic enrichment activities.

• Support students through revision programmes, intervention sessions and examination preparation.

• Participate actively in school activities, clubs, trips and other co-curricular programmes.

• Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and school leadership to promote student achievement and wellbeing.

• Essential Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Education (Geography) or a related field with 5 years experience.

• Recognised teaching qualification is an advantage.

• Proven experience teaching Cambridge IGCSE Geography.

• Strong knowledge of the Cambridge IGCSE Geography syllabus and assessment requirements.

• Demonstrable experience preparing students for external examinations.

• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.

• Strong ability to use assessment data to improve student outcomes.

• Good ICT and digital teaching skills.

• Ability to create an engaging, challenging and supportive learning environment.

• Excellent written and spoken English.

• A passion for teaching, continuous professional development and student success.

• Desirable

• Experience teaching Geography at Checkpoint, IGCSE and/or A-Level.

• Experience with Cambridge examination standards and marking schemes.

• Experience organising field trips or geographical fieldwork.

• Strong interest in current affairs, environmental issues, sustainability and global development.

• Experience working in a British or international school environment.
