Principal IAM Cyber Strategy

Position Summary

The IAM Strategy and Product Manager, IAM Data Services is responsible for defining, delivering, and evolving Northern Trust's enterprise IAM data strategy and capabilities. This role owns the vision, roadmap, and execution of identity data products that support access governance, privileged access management, authentication, authorization, regulatory reporting, operational analytics, and emerging AI-driven identity services.

The individual serves as the bridge between cybersecurity, technology, risk, business stakeholders, and engineering teams, ensuring identity data is accurate, accessible, actionable, and aligned to enterprise security and business objectives. The role focuses on transforming identity data into strategic business assets that improve risk management, operational efficiency, regulatory readiness, and decision-making.

Major Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Roadmap

• Define and execute the multi-year roadmap for IAM Data Services, ensuring alignment with enterprise cybersecurity, technology, data, and business strategies.
• Establish and manage identity data products that support Workforce IAM, Privileged Access Management, Customer Identity, Authentication, Authorization, and Identity Governance processes.
• Develop business cases, investment priorities, success metrics, and adoption strategies for IAM data capabilities.
• Identify opportunities to leverage identity data to improve regulatory reporting, operational intelligence, risk management, governance, and audit readiness.

Product Ownership & Execution

• Own the backlog, prioritization, and delivery of IAM data platforms, services, analytics, and reporting capabilities.
• Partner with engineering, architecture, security, risk, and business teams to translate strategic objectives into actionable product requirements.
• Lead planning, development, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement activities across multiple identity data initiatives.
• Drive successful execution of complex initiatives involving multiple technologies, business functions, and stakeholder groups.

Identity Data & Analytics

• Oversee enterprise identity data architecture, data modeling, data quality, and governance practices.
• Define and manage data products leveraging platforms such as Databricks, enterprise data lakes, and analytics solutions.
• Drive development of dashboards, metrics, KPIs, and executive reporting supporting cybersecurity, audit, regulatory, and operational objectives.
• Enable self-service analytics and data consumption capabilities for IAM stakeholders and business partners.
• Establish trusted identity data sources supporting enterprise access reviews, certification campaigns, privileged account governance, entitlement management, and risk reporting.

AI & Advanced Analytics

• Identify and prioritize opportunities to leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning, and agentic identity capabilities utilizing IAM data assets.
• Partner with cybersecurity, data science, and technology teams to develop identity intelligence, anomaly detection, behavioral analytics, and predictive risk use cases.
• Ensure IAM data services support future AI-enabled automation and decisioning capabilities across the identity ecosystem.

Stakeholder Management & Governance

• Collaborate with senior business, technology, cybersecurity, and risk leaders to define requirements and measurable outcomes.
• Establish governance processes for identity data standards, quality controls, ownership, lineage, and usage.
• Present roadmap updates, key metrics, operational performance, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
• Build strong partnerships across cybersecurity engineering, enterprise architecture, infrastructure, data engineering, compliance, audit, and risk organizations.

Operational Excellence

• Ensure IAM data services meet established reliability, performance, availability, security, and compliance requirements.
• Continuously evaluate processes and recommend automation opportunities to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and scalability.
• Drive adoption of industry best practices and emerging technologies supporting identity intelligence and analytics.

Required Knowledge & Skills

Product Management

• Strong understanding of product management principles, agile delivery methodologies, roadmap development, and stakeholder management.
• Ability to define product vision, measurable outcomes, adoption strategies, and business value realization metrics.
• Experience managing complex technology products and services across large enterprise environments.

IAM Domain Expertise

• Deep understanding of Identity and Access Management disciplines including:
• Identity Governance & Administration (IGA)
• Privileged Access Management (PAM)
• Authentication & Access Management
• Role-Based and Fine-Grained Authorization
• Identity Lifecycle Management
• Access Certification & Governance
• Identity Risk Management
• Strong knowledge of IAM industry standards and frameworks including:
• NIST
• ISO 27001
• COBIT
• Zero Trust
• Regulatory and audit control expectations

Salary Range: $130,530 - 221,920 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
