About this role
We're moving our private cloud off VMware and onto Microsoft Hyper-V. This is a hands-on build-and-migrate role on a multi-site project running through July 2027 across multiple data centers in the US and Canada. If you've built Hyper-V clusters, broken a few, and know how to fix them, we want to talk to you.
-
What You'll Do:
-
Build Hyper-V hosts and failover clusters: Windows Server, CSV, Live Migration, iSCSI and Fibre Channel SANs.
-
Deploy and manage the platform with SCVMM and Active Directory on a segmented VLAN network design.
-
Plan and run VMware-to-Hyper-V migrations with Veeam, from pre-migration prep through cutover.
-
Tune workloads after cutover (CPU, memory, power settings, security exclusions) so customers don't feel it.
-
Work with Networking and Security on VLAN segmentation, virtual firewalls, and DR for migrated workloads.
-
Own the oddballs (Legacy OSes, SAP HANA) and document everything.
-
What You Bring:
-
5+ years of hands-on Windows Server and virtualization experience, including production Hyper-V clusters.
-
Real world VMware vSphere/ESXi to Hyper-V migration experience.
-
Working knowledge of SCVMM, Failover Clustering, Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy.
-
Solid storage and networking fundamentals: FC/iSCSI SAN, VLANs, virtual switches, and NIC teaming.
-
Veeam Backup & Replication experience, plus enough PowerShell to automate the repeatable stuff.
-
A troubleshooter's mindset, a generalist's attitude, and the ability to explain your work to customers.
-
Nice to Have:
-
Microsoft (AZ-800/AZ-801) or Veeam (VMCE) certifications.
-
Azure or AWS experience, especially cloud-based disaster recovery for Hyper-V workloads.
-
An MSP or multi-tenant hosting background, plus experience with FortiGate, Dell iDRAC, or Live Optics.
