Job title: Hydraulic Technician

About the Role The Hydraulic Technician is responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing the hydraulics of CFAO's range material handling equipment. This role requires diagnosing issues, performing routine maintenance, and replacing worn hydraulic components to keep machinery operating safely and efficiently.

What You'll Do

  • Service, maintain, and repair hydraulic systems on machinery, robots, and equipment.
  • Observe equipment operation to detect malfunctions and perform diagnoses.
  • Visually inspect hydraulic lines and components for leaks, damage, or wear; read pressure gauges and monitor oil temperature.
  • Use hand tools to depress switches, release pressure, disconnect hydraulic supply/return lines, and replace or repair components such as accumulators.
  • Recharge accumulators by connecting charging assemblies and filling with nitrogen gas per manufacturer specifications.
  • Replace worn or damaged hydraulic components (oil lines, fittings, cylinders, servo-valves, pressure release valves, gaskets, seals) and reassemble systems.
  • Disassemble hydraulic systems and replace actuators, pump bearings, and pump motors; use hoist when needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance (e.g., changing filters) per schedule.
  • Verify repairs by observing machinery operation; may use robot controller readouts to diagnose issues.
  • Rebuild or repair defective hydraulic components at a workbench and install hydraulic oil lines on new equipment.
  • Document maintenance data and operational history; communicate findings to customers or supervisors; promote service/maintenance programs.
  • Record equipment maintenance data and keep records up to date.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics and mechanics, with ability to service and repair hydraulic systems.
  • Experience reading pressure gauges and detecting abnormal oil pressure or overheated oil conditions.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, hoists, and basic mechanical disassembly/reassembly.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment breakdowns; effective communication with customers and supervisors.
  • Capability to follow manufacturer specifications and set procedures to deliver quality service and maintenance.
  • Willingness to perform routine maintenance and document maintenance history.
  • Ability to install hydraulic oil lines on new equipment and service a range of machinery.
