About the Role SDG Group is seeking a Hybrid Data Engineer (GCP Landscape) to join our data analytics practice in Italy. You will grow into an expert in Big Data & Analytics, working on national and international projects in a fast-paced, international team with structured performance reviews and a personalized career path.
What You'll Do
- Deepen 360° knowledge of big data & analytics focusing on Google Cloud Platform: data architecture, data management, data ingestion, data orchestration and data visualization
- Design and optimize modern ELT/ETL pipelines and data models in BigQuery; develop and govern transformation logic using Dataform with an analytics engineering approach; collaborate across teams
- Implement and manage microservices or containerized data processing scripts in serverless mode via Cloud Run
- Define and develop robust semantic layers, centralized metrics and advanced BI models using LookML (Looker)
- Build hard skills in latest cloud/BI technologies and soft skills to interact with clients and cross-functional teams
- Adapt to an international, fast-paced environment and progressively assume greater responsibilities and autonomy
What We're Looking For
- 2–4 years of experience with SQL (excellent proficiency), Python, data modeling (dimensional/relational) and data warehousing concepts
- Strong plus: experience with GCP data architecture (BigQuery, Dataform, Cloud Run) and LookML for semantic modeling
- A team player who is altruistic, dynamic, enthusiastic, resilient and positive; alignment with SDG values
- Ability to simplify and present complex business information to stakeholders
- Italian and English at B2 level (to be tested at interview)
Nice to Have
- Google Cloud certifications (e.g., Professional Data Engineer) and familiarity with tools like Looker, Dataform, Qlik, PowerBI, Tableau, Redshift, Snowflake
- A culture of continuous learning with internal academies and coaching/mentoring programs
- Willingness to travel and participate in international assignments
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: 34,000€ - 42,000€ gross per year (range defined by experience; final placement based on skills and assessment)
