Job title: HVAC Mechanic - 1st Shift (Sun-Thu 7am-3pm)
About the Role This position is an HVAC Mechanic responsible for maintenance, operation, and repair of heating and cooling systems in Dana-Farber facilities. It is a fully onsite role working Sunday-Thursday 7am-3pm with potential weekend shift differential, ensuring reliable climate control and safe operations in a patient-care environment.
What You'll Do
- Perform preventive maintenance, plant operations, repairs, and minor modifications to air handling units and fixed fans, ductwork, reheat coils/boxes, AC compressor/chiller systems, water coolers, and associated control devices
- Service steam systems and other related equipment, and coordinate with electrical and plumbing trades to maintain high system reliability
- Monitor and respond to alarms on the Building Automation System (BAS); maintain operating logs and CMMS records for work performed and preventive maintenance
- Implement energy conservation techniques on HVAC systems and participate in energy-saving initiatives
- May be required to be on call; adhere to all safety and PPE requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For
- Mechanical knowledge of occupational machines and tools, including design, use, repair, and maintenance
- Knowledge of safety policies and procedures to protect people, data, property, and the institution
- Strong organizational skills and manual dexterity; ability to work with others and communicate effectively; self-starter with initiative
- Minimum Qualifications: High school or trade school graduate preferred; MA refrigeration technician license (required); EPA RECLAIM Type I and Type II license (required)
- Supervisory Responsibilities: No direct supervisory responsibilities; indirect supervision only
- Patient Contact: Yes, may have direct and indirect patient contact
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $52.75 - $55.53 per hour
