Job title: HVAC Manager
About the Role The HVAC Manager leads the HVAC mechanics on the main campus, ensuring well-maintained facilities, safety, and reliable operations. This role manages day-to-day operations, budget, and vendor relationships to support patient care environments.
What You'll Do
- Manage day-to-day operations of the HVAC department, including staffing, scheduling, work activities, and 24/7 on-site coverage.
- Prepare and issue work orders, assign tasks, and ensure timely completion of objectives.
- Provide critical issue support to maintain continuous facility operations.
- Oversee performance, reliability, and environmental conditions of HVAC systems across the facility; troubleshoot issues and coordinate corrective actions.
- Develop departmental budgets and plan for equipment replacements/upgrades; oversee service contracts and vendor activities.
- Implement preventive maintenance procedures; collaborate on energy conservation and building performance.
- Ensure regulatory and environmental compliance including EPA regulations; represent the department on indoor air quality matters and participate in related committees.
- Provide rotating 24-hour on-call support for Support Services as required.
- Hire, develop, and supervise staff; set expectations and mentor for growth.
What We're Looking For
- Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems (chillers, boilers, air handling units, controls, building automation).
- Proficiency in troubleshooting complex HVAC systems and repairing equipment.
- Knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, and safety best practices; ability to read construction documents and manage budgets.
- Strong vendor management, contract oversight, and customer service orientation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, work order systems, and Bluebeam/Adobe.
- Ability to develop and maintain preventative maintenance programs and respond to on-call demands.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $110,700.00 - $123,500.00 per year.
- Location: 450 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA 02215; 100% onsite.
