About this role
An HVAC Controls Systems Engineer at Johnson Controls in Arlington, Virginia leads the configuration, programming, and testing of building automation and direct digital control systems, develops sequences of operations, and ensures system functionality from design through field deployment.
Responsibilities
- Configure and program HVAC building automation and control systems (direct digital controls) and create sequences of operations
- Develop and test software programs to operate the system
- Support technicians by ensuring the quality, timeliness, and efficiency of designs
- Load, commission, bench test, and troubleshoot system-level building control systems and network-level controllers
- Validate complete system functionality
- Provide field change information to the project team for as-built drawings and software
Requirements
- Experience implementing Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems, including programming, commissioning, and testing; 10+ years preferred
- Experience integrating low voltage building sub-systems using various industry protocols (e.g., LON, BacNet, Modbus)
- Willingness and ability to complete Johnson Controls training courses C-7201-EN Metasys System Engineering and C-10122-EN Custom Logic (Including Global Sequencer) at CCT 10.1
- Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances and/or badging to support project needs (background/character, criminal history, employment, and credit checks)
- Preferred: experience with Metasys Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems; SMP, SCT, and/or CCT programming experience; experience creating SCT databases, custom programs, schedules, trends, alarms, and programming modules
