Human Resources Officer

About the role
Provide general Human Resources services within the designated area of responsibility, ensuring compliance with relevant HR legal requirements and the company’s HR policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 certificate (NQF Level 4) is essential.
- Human Resources Diploma/Degree or NQF Equivalent is essential.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the HR field is essential.
- Computer Literacy (MS Office Package) is essential.
- A valid medical certificate is essential, or the candidate must be medically fit to obtain one.
Competencies
- Must have good communication skills.
- Knowledge of Human Resources Information Systems is essential.
- Knowledge of SACO Enterprise T&A is essential.
- Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act, regulations, and definitions (Red Tickets) is essential.
- Understanding of the Labour Relations Act (Act 66 of 1995) essential.
- Understanding of the Labour Relations Act with respect to Collective Agreements and Bargaining Councils is essential.
- Understanding of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (Act 75 of 1997) essential.
- Must be assertive and multilingual.
Key Performance Areas
- Compile daily, weekly, and monthly HR Reports to assist management in making informed decisions (i.e., absenteeism, leave (including sick leave), and training).
- Assists management in complying with legal requirements (i.e. ensuring employees have valid red tickets, training plotters, first aid, and legally required qualifications).
- Ensures all medical certificates are scrutinised and verified with the Council of Medical Practitioners for validity.
- Facilitates and ensures counselling sessions are conducted, and reports are submitted to management. E.g. Incapacity.
- Ensures disciplinary action is taken fairly for attendance-related misconduct.
- Ensures all communication-related matters (briefs & feedback forms, ITV, Photos, etc.) are timeously attended to, distributed, and reported.
- Provides administrative support pertaining to various HR related functions.
- Facilitates and ensures all allegations are investigated and advises line management on the appropriate process to follow.
- Assists in formulating charges and aligns them to the disciplinary policy document and schedule of offences, based on their gravity and possible sanctions.
- Ensures that non-availability processes are followed and adhered to.
- Ensures records are captured correctly (i.e., exit interviews, disciplinary actions, hearings, counselling/investigations).
- Assists HR management in implementing the employee wellness programme.
- Facilitates and acts as an interpreter during Disciplinary Hearings.
- Manages labour in line with the labour business plan.
- Facilitates and ensures the Incapacity process, including its meetings, is conducted at operations level.
