Human Resources (HR) Generalist

We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Generalist to support a dynamic workforce in Wilmington, California. This Long-term Contract position will oversee core HR operations, strengthen employee relations, and guide onboarding, benefits, and union-related processes with accuracy and professionalism. The ideal candidate brings a balanced understanding of HR administration and compliance while fostering a positive and engaged employee experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day human resources activities, including employee records, documentation, and general HR support across the organization.

• Serve as a key contact for employee relations matters, addressing workplace concerns and helping resolve issues in a timely and thorough manner.

• Coordinate onboarding activities for new hires, ensuring a smooth start through orientation, policy communication, and completion of required paperwork.

• Administer benefits-related processes by supporting enrollments, changes, and employee questions regarding available plans and programs.

• Maintain and update HRIS data to ensure personnel information remains accurate, organized, and compliant with company standards.

• Support union payroll administration and help ensure pay practices align with applicable agreements and established procedures.

• Interpret and apply union contract provisions when responding to workforce questions, employment actions, and related HR matters.

• Assist with union grievance handling by tracking cases, preparing documentation, and partnering with leadership on appropriate follow-up.

• Contribute to employee engagement efforts by supporting programs and initiatives that promote communication, morale, and workplace participation.

• Experience working as an HR Generalist or in a broad human resources support role.

• Strong knowledge of employee relations practices and HR administration in a detail-oriented setting.

• Hands-on experience with onboarding processes, benefits administration, and employee support services.

• Familiarity with HRIS platforms and the ability to manage employee data accurately and confidentially.

• Working knowledge of union payroll processes, labor agreements, and contract-based workforce environments.

• Ability to assist with union grievance matters and interpret collective bargaining language with sound judgment.

• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills with a high level of integrity.

• Ability to support employee engagement initiatives while maintaining compliance and operational consistency.
