Survivors & Mates Support Network, known as SAMSN, is a specialist service supporting male survivors of child sexual abuse, as well as their families, loved ones and supporters. We also provide tailored training to health professionals, community organisations and government departments supporting people impacted by childhood trauma. We are seeking an organised, approachable and detail-focused Human Resources Coordinator to provide practical HR and administrative support across the employee lifecycle.
This part-time position offers an opportunity to contribute to a professional, compliant and people-focused workplace while supporting an organisation creating positive change in the community. The role is based at our Parramatta office and reports to the Chief Operating Officer.
About the role
The Human Resources Coordinator will support a broad range of activities, including recruitment, onboarding, employee records, payroll administration, policy implementation, compliance and staff wellbeing initiatives.
This is a varied and practical role suited to someone who enjoys working collaboratively, maintaining accurate systems and providing responsive support to employees and managers.
Key responsibilities

Recruitment and onboarding

Coordinate recruitment activities, including advertising, interview scheduling and candidate communications.

Prepare employment contracts, position descriptions and onboarding documentation.

Coordinate new starter induction processes and maintain onboarding checklists.

Help ensure required pre-employment checks are completed, including Working with Children Checks and police checks where required.

HR administration

Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.

Monitor probation periods, contract renewals and key employment milestones.

Assist with HR reports and workforce information.

Support employee understanding of and compliance with organisational policies and procedures.

Payroll and employee support

Assist with payroll administration, including leave and employment variations.

Respond to routine employee HR enquiries.

Coordinate staff wellbeing and learning and development activities.

Support managers with probation and performance review processes.

Compliance and policy

Assist the Chief Operating Officer to maintain HR policies, procedures and employment documentation.

Monitor employment and workplace compliance requirements.

Support workplace health and safety administration.

Maintain confidentiality and ensure the secure handling of employee information.

Selection Criteria
Essential:
- 3-5 years experience in human resources, people and culture, or a related field.
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A high level of discretion and a commitment to confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using HR or payroll systems.
Desirable:
- A qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline.
- Experience in the not-for-profit or community services sector.
- Knowledge of the Fair Work Act, the SCHADS Award and contemporary HR practices.
