HSE Officer Job at Saba Energy

Saba Energy is a renewable energy power generation company. We help you navigate the ever changing world of energy to design a bespoke solution that works for you, and the earth. Saba works relentlessly to help organisations move towards cleaner solutions, providing them with clean and hybrid energy products. Our priority is to make a net-zero future a pragmatic reality by actively seeking and developing the most advanced clean and hybrid energy solutions capable of transforming the global energy landscape

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Position: HSE Officer

Job Locations: Adamawa, Taraba and Benue/Kogi

Employment type: Fixed-term, project-based

Job Summary

  • We are hiring three HSE Officers to cover our solar mini-grid construction across Nigeria.
  • This is a field role. You will spend your time on active sites rather than reviewing paperwork from an office, monitoring contractors through excavation, PV and BESS installation, LV/MV distribution, work at height, and electrical testing and commissioning.
  • One officer based in each of Adamawa, Taraba and Benue/Kogi, with flexibility to cover other project sites.

What you will own

  • Implementing Saba's HSE policies and project requirements across your assigned sites
  • Site inspections, toolbox talks, inductions and PPE compliance
  • Holding EPC contractors and subcontractors to our HSE requirements, and following corrective actions through to closure
  • Stop Work Authority where an activity presents an immediate and serious risk
  • Incident and near-miss reporting, investigation support and emergency preparedness
  • Environmental compliance, hazardous materials handling and community safety
  • Daily and weekly HSE reporting

What you bring

  • Four to five years in HSE, ideally construction, renewable energy, electrical infrastructure or EPC in Nigeria
  • HND or Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline
  • Hands-on experience on active construction sites
  • Working knowledge of Nigerian HSE requirements, risk assessments, method statements and permit-to-work systems
  • The confidence to enforce HSE requirements with contractors and site personnel
  • Willingness to travel extensively and stay near remote sites
  • NEBOSH or IOSH certification, First Aid or Fire Safety training, and solar PV or mini-grid experience are each an advantage.
