Location: Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos

Work Schedule: 6 Days a Week
Job Summary
- We are seeking an experienced and proactive HR Manager to oversee the human resources function of a major retail store.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the full employee lifecycle, ensuring effective workforce management, maintaining employee discipline and engagement, and supporting the business in achieving its operational goals through a productive and well-managed workforce.
- The ideal candidate should be highly organised, people-oriented, firm but fair, and comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment with a large and diverse workforce.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Workforce Planning:
- Manage end-to-end recruitment for retail, administrative, supervisory, and management positions.
- Work with department heads to identify staffing needs and ensure timely recruitment and deployment.
- Coordinate interviews, background checks, onboarding, and employee documentation.
- Maintain an updated database of employees and potential candidates.
Employee Relations & Engagement:
- Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns, grievances, and workplace issues.
- Handle employee relations matters professionally and ensure fair and consistent treatment of staff.
- Promote positive employee engagement and a healthy workplace culture.
- Mediate workplace conflicts and recommend appropriate resolutions.
Performance Management:
- Coordinate employee performance reviews, appraisals, probation assessments, and performance improvement plans.
- Work with line managers to address performance gaps and improve employee productivity.
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, productivity, and general workforce performance.
Attendance, Leave & Workforce Administration:
- Oversee staff attendance, shift schedules, leave requests, and absenteeism.
- Ensure adequate staffing across departments, particularly during peak retail periods.
- Monitor overtime and other workforce-related records.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records.
Discipline & Policy Implementation:
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and workplace standards.
- Manage disciplinary processes, including warnings, investigations, queries, and other corrective actions.
- Ensure that disciplinary matters are handled fairly, consistently, and in line with applicable labour regulations.
- Review and recommend updates to HR policies where necessary.
Training & Development:
- Identify employee training and development needs in collaboration with department heads.
- Coordinate staff training, orientation, and other learning initiatives.
- Support the development of supervisors and team leads to improve people-management capabilities.
Payroll & Benefits Administration:
- Coordinate monthly payroll inputs, including attendance, overtime, deductions, leave, and other employee-related adjustments.
- Ensure accurate employee information is provided for payroll processing.
- Administer employee benefits and address staff enquiries relating to HR benefits.
HR Compliance:
- Ensure HR practices comply with applicable Nigerian employment and labour regulations.
- Maintain proper employment contracts, personnel files, HR reports, and statutory documentation.
- Support internal and external HR audits when required.
- Ensure workplace practices are aligned with organizational policies and legal requirements.
HR Reporting & Analytics:
- Prepare regular HR reports for management covering headcount, recruitment, turnover, attendance, absenteeism, disciplinary cases, performance, and other workforce metrics.
- Analyse HR data and provide practical recommendations to management.
- Maintain accurate HR dashboards and workforce records.
Management Support:
- Provide management with HR advice on staffing, employee performance, disciplinary matters, and workforce planning.
- Participate in management meetings and contribute to business decisions from an HR perspective.
- Support the implementation of organisational changes and other business initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree/HND in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years' relevant HR experience, with experience in a managerial or supervisory HR position.
- Previous experience in retail, supermarket, FMCG, hospitality, or another high-volume workforce environment is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and HR administration.
- Good understanding of Nigerian labour laws and HR best practices.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR management systems/software.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage a large workforce.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Salary
N450,000 monthly.
