About the Role
The Intern will contribute to UNESCO's Bureau of Human Resources Management (HRM) under the overall authority of the Director of HRM and the direct supervision of the relevant Chief of Section, Head of Unit, or HR specialist. This internship offers an opportunity to learn and support HRM activities across areas including Management Support & Coordination, Staffing & Recruitment, Staff Services, Classification & Post Management, HR Policy, Performance, and Learning & Partnerships. Specific terms of reference and learning objectives will be defined in the agreement.
What You'll Do
- Contribute to the production/preparation of documents, working papers, and conceptual framework/concept notes on area of work or development challenges.
- Collect, organize and analyze data.
- Assist in the development of technical support in the development of new interventions or projects.
- Undertake research and reviews to produce parts of documents, presentations, etc.
- Contribute to the preparation of communication materials.
- Participate in meetings and seminars.
- Provide administrative and logistical support in the planning and organization of briefings, information sessions, workshops and other similar activities.
What We're Looking For
- Age: at least 20 years old to apply.
- Education: currently enrolled and on the 3rd year or final year of a Bachelor’s degree; OR enrolled in a second university degree (Master’s or PhD); OR recently completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree (within 12 months) as determined by the diploma date. Vocational candidates in the last year or recently graduated are eligible.
- Languages: excellent command of English or French (written and spoken); working knowledge of the other language is an asset and may be required for some internships.
- Computer skills: excellent knowledge of computer systems and office-related software.
- Personal attributes: ability to work well in a team and adapt to an international working environment; strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Compensation & Benefits
- UNESCO does not remunerate interns. There is no monetary compensation.
- Interns are entitled to 2.5 days of leave per month and an additional 1 working day per complete month of internship.
- Limited workplace insurance coverage against risk of injury, illness, disability, or death incurred during the internship and related to its execution.
