About the Role
Loyola University Chicago seeks a dynamic temporary HR Director to provide executive and operational leadership for HR programs during a period of organizational transition, including the ERP implementation. The role partners with the Chief Human Resources Officer to ensure continuity of operations, advance HR initiatives across campuses, and deliver high-quality, compliant HR services during this limited-term appointment through July 1, 2027. The position is on-site and serves as a key resource to managers and staff across the university’s Chicagoland campuses and the John Felice Rome Center in Italy.
What You'll Do
- Provide senior-level counsel to university leadership on HR programs and initiatives during the ERP transition and ongoing operations.
- Lead and oversee HR Managers and staff; ensure compliance with federal, state, and university regulations; manage employee relations, investigations, grievance resolution, and risk management for assigned portfolios.
- Direct Talent Management, Talent Acquisition Operations, and Onboarding; oversee development of leadership and staff across academic and administrative units.
- Oversee HR analytics, reporting, and performance measurement; utilize workforce data to guide institutional decision-making.
- Lead special HR projects and institutional initiatives; foster a collaborative, service-oriented culture while monitoring operational efficiency.
- Represent HR on university-wide committees, task forces, and governance bodies; build partnerships with faculty, staff, administrators, and senior leaders across campuses.
- Lead, mentor, and develop HR staff; establish clear performance expectations and accountability.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing professional staff and teams.
- Demonstrated expertise in employee relations, investigations, organizational development, labor relations, staffing, workforce planning, HR analytics, compensation, and policy administration.
- Proven experience implementing strategic initiatives and managing complex projects from inception to completion.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and university employment laws and regulations.
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
