About the Role The Department of Tourism is offering Entry Level Clerk opportunities in Pretoria for unemployed South Africans to gain experience in the public service. Roles cover general administrative duties and HR-related tasks, providing exposure to government operations and essential workplace skills. What You'll Do

  • Support recruitment, selection and appointment processes; sort, capture and number applications; assist with PERSAL transactions related to recruitment and service benefits.
  • Plan and arrange logistics for meetings; attend and take minutes; draft submissions; coordinate personnel suitability checks; draft offer and regret letters.
  • Administer conditions of service and benefits; process leave applications, capture leave forms on PERSAL/EDMS, and liaise with the finance section for leave gratuity payments.
  • Respond to enquiries on leave matters; manage documents and filing; open sp files and audit them; provide overall administrative support.
  • Handle internal control and compliance duties including record keeping, updating registers, procuring goods and services, obtaining quotations, maintaining asset and leave registers, and archiving documents.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders; maintain filing systems and ensure documentation is retrievable; manage petty cash where applicable. What We're Looking For
  • Grade 12 or equivalent; knowledge of acts, policies, prescripts, HR practices in the Public Service and PERSAL knowledge (advantage).
  • Computer literacy (MS Office); good verbal and written communication; flexibility, teamwork; customer focus; ability to work under pressure.
  • For Admin Clerk: Grade 12 with accounting as a passed subject; knowledge of clerical duties, data capture, computer use; understanding of PFMA, DORA, PSA, PSR, PPPFA and Financial Manual (basic).
  • Interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills; ability to capture data and maintain records; experience with filing, archiving, and procurement processes (advantage). Nice to Have
  • PERSAL certificate(s) (advantage).
  • Experiential learning in HR or related field; knowledge of public service financial legislations (PFMA, DORA, etc.) (advantage). Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: R228 321 per annum, plus 37% in lieu of service benefits.
