About this role

Job title: Houston Chronicle Visuals Internship - Summer 2027

Role Overview

The Houston Chronicle is looking for a creative and ambitious student journalist to join its Visuals team for the summer 2027 internship program.

The position is designed for motivated student journalists who want to build careers in visual journalism and gain hands-on experience producing photography and video in a major newsroom. The intern will help produce compelling still photography and short-form video for the Chronicle’s website and social platforms, including TikTok, Instagram and YouTube Shorts. They will have the opportunity to collaborate across the newsroom to tell visually driven stories that capture Houston’s people, culture and breaking news moments.

Our summer interns are integral members of the newsroom, producing work that reaches hundreds of thousands of readers and viewers. Past interns have gone on to full-time roles at the Chronicle as reporters, producers and editors across our newsroom and audience teams.

Hybrid: Interns work in the Chronicle’s office at least 3 days a week.
