Job Summary

  • The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for supervising daily housekeeping operations and ensuring that guest rooms, public areas, and other assigned areas consistently meet the property's standards for cleanliness, hygiene, maintenance, and presentation.
  • The position provides hands-on leadership to housekeeping attendants and coordinates effectively with other departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of housekeeping attendants and assigned staff.

  • Allocate rooms and cleaning assignments according to occupancy, arrivals, departures, VIP requirements, and operational priorities.

  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, corridors, public areas, and other assigned spaces.

  • Ensure rooms are cleaned, maintained, and presented according to established quality standards.

  • Verify room status and communicate room readiness accurately to Front Office.

  • Brief housekeeping staff at the beginning of shifts and communicate operational priorities and special requirements.

  • Train, coach, and mentor housekeeping attendants on cleaning procedures, service standards, safety, and proper use of equipment and chemicals.

  • Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, grooming, conduct, and productivity.

  • Identify maintenance issues and follow up with Engineering/Maintenance to ensure timely resolution.

  • Monitor linen, amenities, cleaning supplies, and equipment to ensure adequate availability and proper usage.

  • Maintain proper control of keys and ensure compliance with security procedures.

  • Handle guest requests, complaints, and housekeeping-related concerns professionally and promptly.

  • Ensure compliance with lost and found procedures.

  • Conduct room checks for VIPs, special occasions, long-stay guests, and other priority rooms as required.

  • Assist with inventory checks and stock control.

  • Ensure housekeeping equipment and work areas are clean, safe, and properly maintained.

  • Monitor compliance with health, safety, sanitation, fire, and environmental procedures.

  • Prepare or contribute to daily housekeeping reports and operational records.

  • Coordinate with Front Office, Engineering, Laundry, Security, and other departments as required.

  • Support deep-cleaning schedules and periodic housekeeping projects.

  • Report operational challenges, staffing issues, guest complaints, and significant incidents to management.

  • Perform other duties assigned by the Housekeeping Manager or management.

  • Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or certificate in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, or a related field is an advantage.

  • 2–3 years of housekeeping experience, preferably in a hotel or similar hospitality environment.

  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.

  • Knowledge of hotel housekeeping procedures, cleaning standards, and hygiene requirements.

  • Good communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.

Salary

N250,000 - N300,000 per month.
