About the Role The Hospital Lab Technician 1 – Days is a full-time, on-site clinical position at UCSF responsible for collecting specimens, labeling and preparing samples, and supporting both inpatient and outpatient services. The role may require performing phlebotomy at various UCSF Health sites and involves accurate record-keeping and coordination with the main lab.
What You'll Do
- Provide services to both inpatient and outpatient clients as assigned.
- Collect specimens according to protocol and prepare them for laboratory analysis, maintaining accurate records of drawn specimens.
- May perform phlebotomy at UCSF Health sites (Parnassus, Mt. Zion, joint UCSF health partnerships, Satellite Clinics, or other off-site clinic sites).
- Label and distribute appropriate specimen containers, give instructions for complex tests, assist in bone marrow collections, clerical duties, specimen processing, computer entry, and transport preparation to the main lab.
- May assist in Clinical Laboratory Processing section as needed.
What We're Looking For
- Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma (GED).
- Two years of laboratory experience or two years of college including courses in the natural, physical, or social sciences, and one year of laboratory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and knowledge.
