Hospital Driver

About the Role The Hospital Driver safely transports hospital staff and medical supplies between locations, prioritizing safety and courteous service. This role operates under the supervision of the Facility Officer and ensures vehicle cleanliness, proper maintenance, and compliant transportation to support patient care and hospital operations. What You'll Do

• Safely operate hospital vehicles to transport staff and equipment to various locations, including appointments, hospital facilities, and external destinations.
• Strictly adhere to traffic laws, regulations, and hospital transportation policies to ensure passenger and road safety.
• Regularly inspect hospital vehicles for signs of damage or safety issues and report maintenance needs promptly.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and hygiene, both interior and exterior, to provide a sanitary transportation environment.
• Navigate effectively using local routes and GPS to optimize travel time and select appropriate routes based on traffic conditions.
• Remain calm and follow established emergency transportation protocols to ensure passenger safety.
• Participate in training to enhance safe driving practices, patient care, emergency response, and customer service skills.
• Maintain accurate transportation records (mileages, fuel usage, passenger information) and communicate with hospital staff to coordinate needs.
• Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and empathy in interactions with staff and patients; maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
• Assist with patient entry/exit and support needs when appropriate, respecting patient dignity and safety.
• Ensure open communication with stakeholders to address concerns and plan transportation as required. What We're Looking For
• High school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Knowledge of emergency procedures and first aid; basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and the ability to perform routine checks.
• Proven experience as a professional driver, preferably in healthcare or transportation, with a track record of high-quality service and conflict resolution.
• Experience in healthcare settings understanding hospital operations and patient care standards; ability to respond to emergencies or high-pressure situations.
• Strong customer service orientation and ability to interact with a diverse group of people.
• Familiarity with operating different vehicle types (e.g., vans, ambulances) and with GPS/navigation tools.
• Excellent navigation, route planning, punctuality, and ability to manage schedules to ensure timely pickups and drop-offs.
• Clear verbal communication skills and ability to follow instructions and relay information accurately.
• Discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information; attention to detail and accuracy in trip records. Nice to Have
