Job title: HOSP LAB TCHN 1

About the Role The Ophthalmic Technician provides patient care and supports the ophthalmology practice by performing technical tasks and preliminary testing. Working under supervision in the Department of Ophthalmology at San Francisco General Hospital, the role requires flexibility as assignments may vary day to day. The primary responsibility is patient care, work-up, and preliminary testing in preparation for the provider’s examination of the patient.

What You'll Do

  • Manage and perform the technical functions of the assigned ophthalmology practice to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Conduct patient care, work-up, and preliminary testing in preparation for the provider’s examination.
  • Adapt to varying assignments across the Ophthalmology department with flexibility and professionalism.
  • Follow policies and procedures of San Francisco General Hospital Medical Center.

What We're Looking For

  • Graduation from college with a major in an applicable natural science; or two years of college courses in the natural sciences plus two years of applicable experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience or training in a similar position.
  • If not COA certified, requirement for successful completion of JCAHPO Ophthalmic assistant certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency.
