Job title: Home Employment Graduate Assistant for Content Management
About the Role The Graduate Assistant for Content Management (GA-CM) at Bluffton University will support annual and multi-year communication strategies by researching, writing, editing, and publishing stories across print, web, social media, and regional and Mennonite media. The GA-CM will provide in-person coverage of campus events and student and faculty achievements, helping to advance Bluffton’s mission and promote its reputation as a distinctive university.
What You'll Do
- Research, plan, write and edit stories that communicate Bluffton University's impact and value to internal and external audiences, with priority on advancement and admissions objectives.
- Produce Beavers All feature stories, Alumnote features, news releases, event coverage; write and send multiple monthly enewsletters.
- Collaborate with the PR and admissions teams on integrated marketing efforts, including message maps and content for campaigns and admissions communications flow.
- Ensure timely distribution of news stories and photos to Bluffton.edu and to the media; manage media relations and campus coverage.
- Serve as strategist to write and manage the monthly tactical plan; assign, manage and edit story assignments by student and staff writers.
- Provide proofreading for all publications in the PR office production flow using AP style.
- Support campus offices with all writing needs and uphold Bluffton’s visual identity standards and editorial style guide.
- Work as a member of a creative team; produce engaging content that informs, persuades and strengthens stakeholder relationships; balance multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Occasional duties: assist in the PR office as needed; some Saturday commitments and evening/weekend work.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum: Bachelor’s degree or higher; some experience in graphic design and/or media production.
- Strong writing, editing, research, and AP style skills; excellent written and verbal communication; ability to collaborate and manage multiple priorities.
- High ethical standards and professional demeanor; strong interpersonal skills; friendly, outgoing, self-motivated; able to delegate when needed.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) and familiarity with digital and social media.
- Must qualify for Bluffton University’s Master of Business Administration, Master of Arts in Education, or Master of Social Work program to be considered.
- Preferred: BA degree; 1 year of related communication, writing, journalism or college work; understanding of liberal arts and the private college Christian environment; Bluffton University graduate; MBA/MAEd/MSW degrees are a plus.
