Histotechnologist

About the Role Under general supervision, the Histotechnologist precisely and accurately performs routine and specialized histology techniques and procedures. The role includes researching, troubleshooting, and resolving histology-related inquiries and maintaining high-quality embedding, microtomy, staining, and equipment maintenance to support patient care. What You'll Do

• Receives tissue specimens and ensures proper accessioning and labeling of all tissue samples
• Processes paperwork associated with accessioning and reporting
• Performs routine and non-routine activities involved in the preparation of slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologist(s), according to established Standard Operating Procedures
• Performs microtomy according to established Standard Operating Procedures
• Embeds processed tissue in paraffin wax
• Performs coverslipping of stained slides either manually or automated
• Performs all special stain procedures according to established Standard Operating Procedures
• Performs filing of blocks and slides
• Maintains laboratory in a clean, functional state, as well as cleaning, performing or scheduling equipment and instrument maintenance/calibration/certification, as required
• Documents remedial actions such as repairs or repeated tests What We're Looking For
• Education: Bachelor of Science in chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution, OR Associate of Science in a laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, OR Equivalent education of 60 semester hours with 24 semester hours in biological and chemical science courses
• Certification: HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP); FL current state technician or technologist license
• Experience: Level I: 1+ years as an ASCP Histotechnologist/Histotechnologist preferred; Level II: 4+ years ASCP Histotechnologist/Histotechnologist preferred
• Basic understanding of laboratory techniques; possesses computer skills to accomplish tasks; effective communication; strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to work independently; able to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment; able to work in a biohazard environment and comply with safety policies and standards outlined in the company’s Safety Data Sheet; good visual acuity including color perception
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds Nice to Have
• ASCP HT/HTL certification preferred; Level I (1+ years) or Level II (4+ years) experience preferred Compensation & Benefits
• Pay Range: $25.80 - $56.09 hourly, plus bonus
