Job title: Hippotherapy Therapist (PT/OT/SLP)
About the Role UpReach's hippotherapy program is delivered by licensed therapists (PT, OT, or SLP) in collaboration with It's Ability Pediatric Physical Therapy and Dr. Heather Ajzenman. The role focuses on providing individualized hippotherapy to improve muscle tone, strength, postural control, balance, and coordination through the horse’s gait, not on learning riding skills.
What You'll Do
- Deliver hippotherapy sessions to pediatric clients as part of a multidisciplinary team with treating therapists.
- Assess client responses to the horse's movement and adjust treatment accordingly.
- Collaborate with It's Ability PPT, Dr. Heather Ajzenman, volunteers, and equine partners to support therapy goals.
- Ensure safety during sessions and maintain appropriate documentation and progress notes.
- Assist with program operations and coordination with UpReach staff and volunteers.
What We're Looking For
- Licensed Physical Therapist (PT), Occupational Therapist (OT), or Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP).
- Interest or experience in pediatric therapy and hippotherapy.
- Ability to work in an equine-assisted therapy environment and collaborate with volunteers.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and safety awareness.
Nice to Have
- Experience with hippotherapy or pediatric therapy in clinical settings.
- Prior involvement in equine-assisted therapy programs.
