Job title: High School Science Teacher (9-12)
About the Role The High School Science Teacher 9-12 is a state-certified educator responsible for delivering course content in an online environment for ODLS. Teachers provide instruction, support and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students’ individual needs. They monitor student progress through the LMS and work closely with students and parents/Learning Coaches to advance learning toward established goals. This is a remote role with occasional travel for state testing and school functions; a professional home office and reliable internet are expected.
What You'll Do
- Takes ownership for student progress and attendance; communicates high expectations and shows active interest in achievement.
- Prepares students for high-stakes standardized tests.
- Conducts live synchronous teaching – minimum of 15 hours per week.
- Asynchronously supports objectives (email correspondence, planning course objectives, preparing learning plans, using data to determine student needs).
- Collaborates with others regarding instruction, resources, interventions and data related to ODLS student needs and teacher professional development.
- Under guidance from the school administrative team, augments course content using prescribed policies and procedures with asynchronous and synchronous tools.
- Submits grades and required student work, ensuring academic honesty and maintains a grade book.
- Makes placement and promotion decisions by generating formal and informal reports, alerting administrators to concerns about student progress.
- Travels to testing sites to proctor state exams as required.
What We're Looking For
- Ohio State Teaching Certification, High School Science (Integrated Science preferred).
- Must reside in Ohio.
- Ability to work remotely from home with a dedicated workspace; typically 40+ hours per week.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with families, Learning Coaches, and colleagues.
- Experience with a Learning Management System (LMS) and data-driven instruction.
Nice to Have
- Integrated Science specialization is preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $40,000 per year with opportunity to earn an annual bonus.
- This position is full-time and primarily remote with occasional travel for state testing and school events.
