Job title: HGV Technician - Aberdeen (dayshift with occasional backshift to cover holidays)
About the Role Volvo Trucks Aberdeen is seeking a skilled HGV Technician for dayshift with occasional backshift to cover holidays. You will service, diagnose and repair a range of commercial trucks, with opportunities to participate in a Light to Heavy Conversion Course if you are an LGV Technician.
What You'll Do
- Carry out regular MOT/service inspections on a wide range of manufacturers’ trucks.
- Fault finding and repairs on engines, gearboxes, brakes, suspension systems, and related components.
- Carry out repairs to a high standard according to Volvo procedures, safely and responsibly.
- Assist in the fault diagnosis process and service customer vehicles; complete service sheets.
- Road test vehicles when required (if you hold an HGV license) and assist with roadside breakdowns.
- Process all relevant paperwork; report vehicle defects; keep workshop facilities, equipment, and tools clean and well maintained.
- Support the development of trainees and apprentices.
What We're Looking For
- A Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance.
- Previous experience working on HGVs or a completed apprenticeship in the HGV industry.
- We will also consider Light Vehicle Mechanics who are willing to take part in our conversion course.
Nice to Have
- Willingness to undertake the Light to Heavy Conversion Course and work across heavy and light vehicle disciplines.
