Job title: Heavy Equipment Technician
About the Role This position is responsible for the mechanical repairs and services on a full line of heavy equipment products. The technician will perform highly technical maintenance, diagnose and troubleshoot Volvo Construction Equipment machinery and related equipment, including engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, computer and electrical systems, and structural repairs including welding. The role emphasizes safety, customer focus, and continuous improvement, with clear communication with customers, vendors, and internal staff.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose, test, and repair heavy equipment and related machinery.
- Read and interpret blueprints and schematics for Volvo product lines and systems.
- Timely complete and submit work orders and warranty claims with detailed descriptions.
- Provide professional customer service about equipment problems and options to fix them.
- Confirm equipment function after repair.
- Provide telephone support to customers for troubleshooting as directed.
- Maintain appropriate PPE and safety practices; work independently or in a team; willingness to work overtime and occasionally overnight.
- Ensure all required tools are maintained and secured.
- Perform other duties as directed.
- Demonstrate safe and proper use of tools and equipment.
What We're Looking For
- High School diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working on construction related equipment.
- Computer proficiency.
- Possesses a valid California Driver's License and a good driving record.
- Frequent travel.
- Manual dexterity for operating machinery and computers; ability to sit/stand for prolonged periods and frequent stooping, bending, crouching and overhead reaching; occasional climbing of stairs or a step ladder.
- Occasional lifting over 50 lbs; frequently lifting up to 30 lbs; may involve lifting, pulling, or pushing objects or materials.
- May work around loud, noisy, and dusty environments.
- Must be able to safely and properly handle pneumatic and electric tools.
