Job title: Heavy Duty Driver M/F
About the Role The Heavy Duty Driver is responsible for transporting, delivering and collecting goods and industrial equipment in a safe and timely manner, while providing excellent customer service.
What You'll Do
- Perform safety checks on the vehicle and load prior to embarking on delivery routes, ensuring all mechanical, safety and emergency equipment are in good working order
- Secure cargo for transport using ropes, blocks, chains, binders and covers as appropriate
- Maintain logs of working hours and vehicle service/repair status per policy
- Obtain required signatures on delivery documentation and ensure receipts/payments and/or deliver paperwork are delivered to the correct recipients
- Check load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy
- Operate the vehicle in compliance with traffic laws and within tracking system parameters
- Communicate promptly with the transport coordinator to confirm assignment details and schedules
- Report incidents, accidents, defects, violations or damage to vehicle or goods
- Ensure vehicle cleanliness to maintain a professional company image
What We're Looking For
- Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent; advanced driver course or related training
- At least 5 years' experience in heavy-duty trucking, including low-bed trucking and loading/off-loading forklifts
- Valid Code 14 / EC driver's license with no restrictions; Professional Drivers’ Permit and medical clearance
- Valid forklift operator’s license
