About the Role The Heavy Duty Driver Assistant will transport, deliver and collect goods and material handling equipment in a safe and timely manner, providing excellent customer service. Based in South Africa, this role supports CFAO South Africa's mobility operations.

What You'll Do

• Follow and enforce safety procedures throughout loading, transporting, and off-loading goods/equipment.
• Perform safety checks on the vehicle and load before delivery; ensure all mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in good working order.
• Secure cargo using ropes, blocks, chains, binders, and covers as appropriate.
• Maintain logs of working hours and vehicle service/repair status per policies.
• Obtain necessary signatures and deliver receipts/payments to the correct person as instructed.
• Check load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Operate the vehicle with due care, comply with traffic laws and tracking system parameters, and position loading/unloading equipment correctly.
• Communicate promptly with the transport coordinator about assignments and schedules.
• Report incidents/accidents, vehicle defects, traffic violations, or damage to the appropriate parties.
• Follow company policies and comply with legal requirements in incidents or accidents involving the driver, vehicle, or load.
• Keep the vehicle clean as it represents the company image.

What We're Looking For

• Experience or ability to secure cargo using ropes, chains, binders, etc.
• Ability to maintain logs of hours and vehicle status.
• Competence in handling documentation, signatures, and deliveries.
• Attention to load documentation accuracy.
• Safe driving with respect to traffic laws and tracking-system parameters.
• Effective communication with transport coordinator.
• Incident and defect reporting ability.
• Compliance with policies and legal requirements; professional vehicle cleanliness.
