Position Overview

• We are seeking an experienced, highly observant, and firm Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Supervisor to enforce safety protocols, manage workplace risk, and drive regulatory compliance across our multi-line manufacturing facilities (including glass, printing, carton, and technical machinery operations).
• The successful candidate will lead daily floor inspections, manage workplace hazard analyses, enforce mandatory PPE compliance, oversee emergency triage in coordination with our on-site clinic, and champion a culture of zero tolerance for unsafe work practices.

Key Responsibilities & Operational Scope

• Floor Enforcement & Inspection Audits:
• Conduct mandatory daily inspection rounds across all production plants to enforce 100% compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards (safety shoes, eye/ear protection, reflective gear, chemical respirators).
• Monitor strict adherence to floor rules, including the absolute ban on mobile phones in active machine zones and gate-pass exit controls.
• Inspect heavy machinery, electrical panels, ventilation ducts, chemical storage, and material handling systems to verify proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and operational safeguards.
• Risk Assessment & Hazard Mitigation:
• Execute formal Job Hazard Analyses and Risk Assessments prior to introducing new machinery, raw chemicals, or structural plant modifications.
• Identify physical, chemical, mechanical, and ergonomic hazards across heavy glass processing, high-speed printing presses, and weaving lines.
• Implement corrective and preventive control measures to maintain clean, hazard-free walkways, clear emergency aisles, and proper waste disposal channels (5S methodology).
• Incident Management & Clinic Coordination:
• Lead immediate root-cause investigations into all floor incidents, injuries, equipment damage, or near-misses; compile formal Corrective Action Reports (CAR) for Management review.
• Collaborate directly with the HR Department and On-Site Staff Nurse to ensure rapid emergency response, proper first-aid management, and OSHA/statutory injury log maintenance.
• Safety Training & Culture Building:
• Prepare and conduct mandatory daily/weekly "Toolbox Talks" for floor technicians, machine operators, and factory operatives on fire safety, heavy lifting techniques, and machine safety.
• Design and execute safety orientation programs for all new factory resumes, contractors, and technical visitors.
• Compliance & Reporting:
• Ensure plant operations comply with all local, state, and national environmental and occupational health safety regulations (e.g., Federal Ministry of Environment, NESREA, State Safety Commissions).
• Maintain accurate statutory audit logs, safety inspection checklists, chemical Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and submit detailed weekly HSE reports to executive leadership.

Qualifications & Essential Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience: 3–5+ years of direct, hands-on HSE supervisory experience in a fast-paced manufacturing, heavy industrial, printing, or glass fabrication facility.
• Professional Certification (Compulsory): Active certification in NEBOSH (International General Certificate), OSHA, or ISPON (Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria) is mandatory.
• Technical Knowledge: Deep practical understanding of industrial fire prevention, chemical hazard handling, emergency response protocols, machine guarding, and occupational hygiene.
• Core Competencies: High assertiveness and firmness in enforcing safety rules, excellent analytical reporting skills, high integrity, and strong verbal communication abilities across diverse teams.
