About the Role

Join a Head Start program as a classroom-based teacher dedicated to ensuring a safe, healthy learning environment for preschoolers. You will work as part of the classroom team, fostering trusting relationships with children and families, delivering developmentally appropriate activities, and supporting family engagement in the curriculum. What You'll Do

  • Maintain and support a safe, healthy learning environment for preschoolers.

  • Develop trusting relationships with children and families; encourage family involvement and support the teacher-family partnership.

  • Support the mission and philosophy of the Head Start program; implement activities that promote literacy, language, math, science, and problem solving.

  • Attend professional development; participate in training opportunities and develop personal development plans with supervision.

  • Complete required classroom paperwork (bleach logs, meal tallies, attendance); coordinate with community members for onsite field trips; participate in family engagement initiatives.

  • Model professional behavior, set consistent expectations using PBIS, and maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.

  • Support health, safety, and emergency procedures; ensure proper hygiene and diapering when appropriate; maintain current CPR/First Aid Training; hold a valid driver's license where travel is required.

  • Work with supervisory staff to understand policies and refer families to CAPHR programs as needed. What We're Looking For

  • Age 18+, High School diploma or GED; Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or 9 credit hours of early childhood coursework including 3 hours in child growth and development; Associate’s Degree in ECE preferred.

  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice and ability to relate well to children and adults.

  • Ability to kneel at eye level, run, lift children in emergencies, and perform basic physical tasks in a classroom setting.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work as part of a team; professional and respectful demeanor.

  • CPR/First Aid certification (to be maintained as assigned).

  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for on-site activities. Nice to Have

  • Additional early childhood coursework or an Associate’s Degree in ECE; prior Head Start or family engagement experience; familiarity with PBIS and Emergency Preparedness procedures. Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $17.55 - $20.24 per hour. This is a full-time, on-site position in Hillsborough and Rockingham Counties, NH.
