About this role

About the Role The incumbent is responsible for the overall health and safety of preschoolers in the Head Start program and works as part of the classroom team to support learning and development. The schedule is developed daily/weekly to provide classroom coverage as needed. What You'll Do

  • Maintain and support a safe, healthy learning environment.
  • Develop trusting relationships with children and families; create a positive, nurturing environment; encourage family involvement and engagement.
  • Support the Head Start mission and philosophy; align with SNHS policies and the program’s guidelines.
  • Work with families without judgment or bias, recognizing and respecting individual differences and backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate high standards of integrity, honesty, and professionalism in all Community Action activities.
  • Support daily learning experiences that advance literacy, phonemic and print awareness, language development, vocabulary growth, and early math/science readiness.
  • Welcome families as primary educators; provide opportunities for home-school connections and volunteering.
  • Provide positive guidance for children, following the program’s Behavior Management Policy including PBIS.
  • Attend not less than 15 clock hours of classroom-focused professional development and complete not less than 18 hours annually to meet NH licensing requirements; develop professional development plans with supervisory staff; pursue outside trainings if applicable.
  • Participate in training opportunities and maintain professional interpersonal and communication skills; work as part of a team.
  • Build partnerships with families within professional boundaries and communicate program policies and procedures. What We're Looking For

  • Ability to implement developmentally appropriate learning experiences supporting literacy, language, math, and science readiness. Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $17.55 - $20.24 per hour (based on education and experience).
