Head of Security & HSE Job Type Full Time Qualification MBA/MSc/MA Experience 8 years Location Lagos Job Field Environment Health and Safety DHL Global Forwarding has an opening for a Head of Security & HSE in Lagos, Nigeria. Lead the health, safety and environment sub-function in the country and provide input to and lead the implementation of functional strategy to mitigate hazardous conditions within the workplace and external environments, and provide employees with a safe and healthy working environment in line with the country’s business strategy and requirements, corporate guidelines and policies. Lead the security sub-function in the country and provide input to and lead the implementation of functional strategy to maximize the security of employees, customer shipments and company assets, reduce risk of injuries and job-related threats, and prevent loss and damage in line with the country’s business strategy and requirements, corporate guidelines and policies.

In this Head of Security & HSE position Craft health, safety and environment strategy in line with country’s business strategy and requirements, corporate guidelines and policies Lead planning and implementation of health, safety and environment operational plans and measures as well as budgets to achieve defined results Plan, organize and control large country level projects and initiatives to improve organization’s health, safety and environmental performance Devise standards, guidelines, programs and tools to achieve desired standards of health and safety Direct consistent and thorough implementation of health and safety frameworks and standards for the country Anticipate issues and develop solutions for the transportation of hazardous material Build consulting capability in health matters to identify health risks and to prevent work-related injuries or diseases across the country Drive compliance and adherence to internal and external safety standards, and relevant regulations across the country Direct investigations, studies and audits to ensure compliance with organization and government standards related to environmental and employee health and safety Develop relationships with the community, environmental groups and other stakeholders impacted by the environmental performance of the organization Extensively analyze complex issues and improve, change or adapt existing health, safety and environment approach and frameworks, increasing effectiveness and efficiency Steer innovation, introduce and embed best in class health, safety and environment practices at the country level. Define security strategy in line with country’s business strategy and requirements, corporate guidelines and policies Direct planning and implementation of security operational plans and measures as well as budgets to achieve defined results Plan, organize and control complex country level projects and initiatives to improve organization’s safety and security Drive consistent and thorough implementation of safety frameworks and standards across operations for the country Design applicable frameworks and lead implementation Business Continuity Management (BCM) and Security, Health and Environment (SHE) regulations for the country Lead appropriate review of data and management information, and take decisions for improvement and risk mitigation Establish standards, policies and procedures for the security and safety of organization’s personnel, visitors and premises Provide security related timely input to new business start-ups to ensure safe operations Lead major investigations and steer implementation of recommendations for improvement Proactively develop relations with law enforcement and other regulatory authorities to provide assistance/ support and to showcase organization as a leading partner and its support of such authorities Lead consistent deployment of security frameworks and compliance with internal and external safety standards, legislation and regulations Extensively analyze complex issues and improve, change or adapt existing security approach and techniques, increasing effectiveness and efficiency Steer innovation, introduce and embed best in class security practices and be recognized as the benchmark for security excellence in the industry.

Stakeholders Extensive contact and negotiating with other departments and 3rd parties with conflicting objectives Influence and challenge key stakeholders effectively Develop strong, trusting cross-functional relationships with senior DHL business leaders Influence others across DHL and externally as an internally and externally recognized thought leader representing the Group Champion cooperation and partnership to provide integrated solutions to problems

Management Responsibility Lead multiple teams of lower level executives, directors/senior managers, and managers Develop short to long-term (1-5 years) plans for optimizing the organization, function, or job-family and the talent required to execute strategies
