Job Title: Head of School / IGCSE Coordinator

Location: Benin city, G.R.A, Edo

Job Description

  • The Head of School / IGCSE Coordinator will provide strategic leadership and direction for the school while taking primary responsibility for the effective coordination and preparation of students and staff for Cambridge/IGCSE examinations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership, direction, and overall management of the school.
  • Oversee the academic, administrative, and operational activities of the school.
  • Supervise teachers and support staff and monitor their performance.
  • Ensure effective implementation of the school curriculum and academic programmes.
  • Lead and coordinate Cambridge/IGCSE academic programmes and examination preparation.
  • Develop and implement effective Cambridge/IGCSE examination preparation plans, revision programmes, and academic support strategies.
  • Coordinate teachers and subject departments involved in Cambridge/IGCSE programmes.
  • Monitor students' academic performance, progress, discipline, welfare, and overall development.
  • Organise and monitor mock examinations, revision programmes, assessments, and other examination-readiness activities.
  • Ensure students are adequately prepared for Cambridge/IGCSE examinations and maintain high academic standards.
  • Develop and implement school policies, procedures, and continuous improvement plans.
  • Lead staff meetings, training, appraisals, and professional development programmes.
  • Provide academic guidance and support to teachers to improve teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Maintain effective communication with parents, staff, management, students, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant educational standards, school policies, and examination requirements.
  • Manage school resources effectively and promote a safe, positive, disciplined, and conducive learning environment.
  • Monitor and evaluate academic results and implement strategies for improvement.
  • Represent Charryville Academy at meetings, events, educational engagements, and other professional activities.
  • Support school management in achieving its academic, operational, and strategic goals.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or a relevant field.
  • Master's degree in Education, Educational Management, or a related field is an advantage.
  • Relevant teaching/education certification is required.
  • Cambridge/IGCSE certification, training, or relevant examination-related qualification is highly required.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years' teaching experience, with at least 2–3 years in a leadership, coordination, or administrative role.
  • Previous experience as a Head Teacher, Vice Principal, Coordinator, Head of Department, or similar leadership position is an advantage.
  • Proven experience in school administration, staff supervision, curriculum implementation, and academic management.
  • Strong practical experience in Cambridge/IGCSE examination preparation is required.
  • Demonstrable experience coordinating Cambridge/IGCSE examination preparation, revision programmes, mock examinations, assessments, and student readiness activities.
  • Experience working with Cambridge/IGCSE students, teachers, academic departments, and examination requirements is strongly required.
  • Candidates with substantial Cambridge/IGCSE examination coordination experience will be highly preferred.

  • Ability to motivate, supervise, mentor, and develop teachers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant digital tools.
  • Strong understanding of child safeguarding and student welfare.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet academic deadlines.

Other Requirements:

  • Must demonstrate integrity, professionalism, strong leadership, and commitment to educational excellence.
  • Must be proactive, organized, and capable of working effectively under pressure.
  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be willing to participate in school activities, meetings, events, and other academic programmes.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with management, teachers, parents, students, and other stakeholders.
  • Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the school's location.
  • Relevant Cambridge/IGCSE examination preparation and coordination experience is a key requirement for this position.
  • Candidates without relevant Cambridge/IGCSE experience may not be considered.

Remuneration

  • N300,000 - N350,000 monthly, depending on qualifications and experience.
  • Other benefits in accordance with the school's policies.
