Head of Product Design

About the Role Lead product design at Light-it by defining the vision and strategy for Product Design, establishing best practices, and guiding a team to deliver exceptional user experiences. This role is based in Montevideo and focuses on elevating design across client engagements. What You'll Do

• Design Leadership: define the vision, strategy, and long-term growth plan for Product Design at Light-it; establish best practices, frameworks, and methodologies; set up planning, staffing, and resource processes; raise the quality bar and ensure consistency across engagements.
• Team Leadership: lead, mentor, and develop a team of Product Designers; support career growth, performance management, and capability development; attract, hire, and retain top design talent; foster a culture of continuous learning and design excellence.
• Strategic Client Impact: contribute to high-value client engagements and position Light-it as a strategic product and design partner; bring a product and design perspective to complex business challenges; facilitate discovery workshops, product strategy sessions, and design thinking activities; ensure design contributes meaningful business and user outcomes.
• Business Impact: support business development, pre-sales activities, and strategic client engagements; help position Design as a strategic differentiator for Light-it; identify opportunities to deepen client relationships and expand the impact of Design across engagements; contribute to the evolution of our services and capabilities. What We're Looking For
• 8+ years of experience in Product Design, UX, or related disciplines
• 3+ years of experience leading designers and design teams
• Proven track record designing and launching digital products
• Strong experience in product discovery, user research, and product strategy
• Experience working directly with clients and executive stakeholders
• Excellent facilitation, communication, and presentation skills
• Strong understanding of product development processes and the ability to balance user needs, business objectives, and technical constraints
• Fluent in English (advanced proficiency)
• Based in Montevideo, Uruguay Nice to Have
• Experience working in software consultancies, digital agencies, product studios, or software development companies
• Background in healthcare, digital health, healthtech, or other regulated industries
• Experience collaborating closely with Product Managers and Product Owners
• Participation in pre-sales, proposal development, or client strategy engagements
• Knowledge of Design Systems and Design Operations
• Experience scaling distributed or remote-first teams
• MBA or additional education in business, innovation, or strategy
