About this role

Who We Are

AvantStay delivers world class, authentic, tech-enabled short-term rental (“STR”) group experiences targeted at the millennial generation. We are venture funded and growing rapidly in the explosive $100+ billion dollar STR industry. We deliver a customized end-to-end experience that is tailored just for groups and powered with technology at every layer.

What We're Looking For

We’re looking for a Head of Performance Marketing who wants the keys, and who gets genuinely excited about taking something good and making it great. Our brand, our homes and our guest experience are strong. Our paid funnel hasn’t caught up yet, and that’s the opportunity. You’ll own a seven-figure annual paid budget that’s growing into eight figures, with no agency in between. You’ll rebuild the funnel end to end and keep refining it until every part earns its place: the tracking, the targeting, the ad copy, the landing page and the reporting.

You’re the kind of person who notices a dropped click ID, a weak headline or a messy naming convention, and can’t leave it alone. You’re as comfortable inside Google Ads and Meta as you are in GTM, BigQuery or a Salesforce field map. You treat signal quality as a performance lever, come to leadership with a point of view rather than a recap, and use AI every day to move faster than a bigger team would. As we expand into hotels, you’ll also shape how we compete on metasearch and OTA advertising from the start.

What You’ll Do

  • Own paid acquisition for both guests and homeowners, with a budget growing from seven figures toward eight.

  • Rebuild our paid funnel from first impression to booked stay or signed owner, and keep refining it: analytics, audience, ad copy, creative, landing page and follow-up.

  • Rebuild conversion tracking across GTM (web and server-side), Segment, GA4 and our custom booking flow, including Meta Conversions API and Google enhanced conversions with clean deduplication.

  • Connect Salesforce so every homeowner stage, from qualified lead to signed agreement, flows back to Google, Meta, Microsoft and LinkedIn with real value attached.

  • Set an attribution approach leadership trusts, and run holdout, lift and geo tests to find what’s truly incremental.

  • Run Google Search, Performance Max, Demand Gen, Microsoft, Meta and LinkedIn hands-on, and test new channels where they can earn budget.

  • Grow Google Hotel Ads, metasearch, Expedia TravelAds and Booking.com Sponsored Ads as our hotel portfolio expands.

  • Plan and measure out-of-home and direct mail to the same standard as digital.

  • Own landing pages and booking flow tests with Product and Engineering, and ship pages yourself with AI tools (we build with Claude Code).

  • Build reporting in BigQuery: spend, CAC, ROAS, cost per qualified owner and cost per signed owner, by channel and funnel.

  • Own monthly budget allocation and forecasting, and make the case for more spend when it’s earned.

  • Set the operating standards for paid: naming conventions, testing cadence, QA checklists and weekly reviews, so the program stays sharp as it scales.

  • Automate pacing, alerts and reporting, choose the tools and freelancers you need, and document every program.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring

An obsession with getting the details right. You’ve taken an underperforming funnel, rebuilt it, and kept improving it long after it was “good enough.”

8+ years in performance marketing, including 3+ years personally running $2M+ a year in paid spend, hands-on in the accounts within the last year.

Hands-on experience cleaning up and rebuilding analytics and Google Tag Manager setups, including GA4, Meta Conversions API and Google enhanced conversions.

Offline conversion imports from a CRM, ideally Salesforce, for a funnel where the sale closes weeks or months after the click.

Comfort working with data in BigQuery or a similar warehouse. SQL is a strong plus.

Incrementality testing experience, and the judgment to know when platform numbers shouldn’t be trusted.

Conversion tests that moved revenue, with results you’re happy to walk through.

Experience marketing to U.S. consumers, at a U.S. company or for U.S. clients.

Daily use of AI, with things you’ve built to show for it.

Nice to have: Google Hotel Ads, metasearch or OTA advertising, Segment or another CDP, a two-sided marketplace, or out-of-home and direct mail measured with real tests.
