About this role

About the Role

We at Innovaccer are looking for a Head of Payer Marketing to own marketing for our payer-facing portfolio — Galaxy (Payer Risk & Quality, Payer Utilization Management) in full, plus the Payer Interoperability swimlane within Gravity — end to end, the way a General Manager owns a business: strategy, story, pipeline, and reputation, not just a set of campaigns.

Strategy, flight plan, execution, and messaging all sit with one person in this role — a combination that is rare at this level. Most marketing leadership roles own execution against someone else’s plan, or own messaging without the mandate to act on it. This role owns the whole payer-facing arc, from go-to-market strategy through to how Innovaccer is positioned with payer buyers. You are not the person running campaigns day to day — you set the plan and the standard, and a team you build and lead executes to it.

A Day in the Life

  • Set the payer go-to-market strategy across Galaxy and Payer Interoperability: target payer segments (health plans, MCOs, government programs), competitive positioning, and priority use cases, informed by Product roadmap, Sales signal, and payer market research.
  • Define the annual and quarterly flight plan for the payer portfolio and own the marketing budget behind it, deciding what the portfolio will and will not pursue.
  • Ensure a continuous flow of payer-specific research grounds the strategy — payer buyer interviews, win/loss analysis, regulatory and reimbursement shifts, competitive scans — and convert that research into decisions, not decks.
  • Own the pipeline generation number for the payer portfolio directly. Identify the portfolio’s Big Bets — the largest, most strategic payer deals — and build a dedicated plan around each: account-based engagement, executive touchpoints, and reference activation.
  • Own payer-facing messaging and positioning directly, backed by real payer domain fluency (risk adjustment, utilization management, quality/Stars, interoperability mandates) — you write and set the narrative yourself.
  • Serve as the primary marketing partner to the Galaxy Product leader and Sales leadership — sit in Product’s planning cadence, own payer product launches end-to-end from a marketing standpoint, and equip Sales with what they need to win payer deals.
  • Coordinate with Gravity’s and Flow’s Heads of Marketing on payer-adjacent messaging — Gravity’s Payer Interoperability swimlane sits under this role directly, and Flow’s PA/Coding/Denials work touches payers operationally even though it stays under Flow’s Head of Marketing.
  • Represent the payer portfolio externally — payer conferences, health plan briefings, industry events, analyst calls, media, and LinkedIn — building a reputation as a payer-market voice, not only an internal operator.
  • Lead the payer portfolio’s swimlane owners and the associates running flight-plan execution. Delegate the operational engine with clear ownership, set goals aligned to the flight plan, and grow the team under you.

What You Need

  • 10+ years of experience in category or product marketing, with direct experience marketing to health plans, MCOs, or government payer programs — not provider-only healthcare technology experience.
  • Strong understanding of payer operations and economics: risk adjustment, utilization management, quality/Stars ratings, government program administration (Medicare Advantage, Medicaid), and the regulatory and reimbursement trends shaping payer technology decisions.
  • A proven track record of setting go-to-market strategy and being accountable for the pipeline and revenue outcome it produces — not just executing a plan set by someone else.
  • Direct experience writing and owning payer-facing messaging and positioning yourself, with the payer domain fluency to make an independent, defensible call on it.
  • Experience as a primary marketing partner to Product and Sales leadership selling into payers — sitting in planning cadences and roadmap conversations, not being briefed after decisions are made.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead a team, delegate operational execution, and be judged on outcomes rather than personal output.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to represent the payer portfolio externally to payer-market analysts, media, and industry audiences.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

We offer competitive benefits to set you up for success in and outside of work.
