About the Head of Partnerships Role
The successful candidate will lead the foundation’s partnership strategy, identify prospective supporters and secure financial and strategic commitments across different countries and regions.
Country sponsorship will be the flagship initiative, but partners will also have opportunities to support entire regions, provide multi-year funding, contribute expertise or use their networks and influence to advance the foundation’s mission.
The role requires someone capable of presenting a compelling vision, developing relationships with senior decision-makers and matching different partners with suitable opportunities to contribute.
The position also involves establishing regional advisory boards that will help expand funding, strengthen networks and promote youth environmental leadership over the long term.
Key Responsibilities
-
- Develop Global Partnerships and Country Sponsorships
-
The Head of Partnerships will manage the complete partnership cycle, from researching potential supporters and making initial contact to negotiating agreements, maintaining relationships and securing renewals.
-
The first year will focus on building a broad and diversified partner community across as many countries and regions as possible.
Responsibilities will include:
-
Identifying companies, corporate foundations, private foundations, family offices, philanthropists and high-net-worth individuals.
-
Mapping potential institutional partners, including embassies, diplomatic offices and development agencies.
-
Building and managing a global partnership pipeline linked to specific countries and regions.
-
Leading discussions with senior decision-makers, foundation directors, sustainability leaders and institutional representatives.
-
Developing tailored sponsorship proposals based on each partner’s interests and capacity.
-
Securing country sponsorships, regional funding, multi-year commitments and strategic contributions.
-
Reporting on the impact of partner support and encouraging long-term relationships.
-
Working with the COO and Founder on partner due diligence to ensure alignment with the foundation’s mission.
-
Maintaining an accurate public register of country sponsors.
-
Sharing partner insights with the programme team to strengthen student participation and programme completion.
-
The first-year objectives will be agreed with the COO and Founder upon appointment. These will include the number of countries sponsored, total income raised and the breadth of the partnership pipeline.
-
- Establish Regional Advisory Boards
-
The Earth Prize operates across seven global regions and plans to establish advisory boards to support its work in each area.
-
The boards will consist of connected and committed individuals who can provide funding opportunities, strategic introductions, expertise and advocacy for young people’s environmental leadership.
-
The successful candidate will initially establish one or two pilot boards during the first year. The model will then be refined and expanded to all seven regions in the second year.
Each board member will be expected to contribute in at least one of three ways:
-
Give: Make a personal donation, sponsor a country or contribute through a family foundation or office.
-
Connect: Introduce potential funding partners, companies, foundations, philanthropists or institutions.
-
Contribute: Provide expertise, mentoring, advocacy or influence that benefits students and schools.
-
The Head of Partnerships will select suitable pilot regions in consultation with the COO and Founder, recruit approximately four to seven members per region and organise quarterly board meetings.
-
Additional responsibilities will include monitoring member contributions, onboarding new members, coordinating their involvement with students and schools, and documenting a model that can be expanded to the remaining regions.
-
The long-term objective is for each board to become self-sustaining within two years of its establishment, generating funding, introductions and influence without requiring extensive management.
