About this role
About the Role
Head of NG911 Call-Handling Software Architecture is responsible for leading the end-to-end architectural strategy, design, and technical vision of the NG911 call-handling platform (e.g., GEMMA). This role ensures the platform meets industry standards for performance, scalability, security, and reliability while enabling seamless integration with emergency communication systems and future public safety technologies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams—including product management, engineering, operations, and government stakeholders—to drive innovation in mission-critical software supporting next-generation 911 (NG911) services. What You'll Do
- Architecture & Technical Leadership: Define and maintain the architectural blueprint for the NG911 call-handling platform, ensuring alignment with NENA i3 standards, NG911 interoperability requirements, and regulatory frameworks. Guide design decisions related to system scalability, fault tolerance, real-time communications, geospatial routing, and cybersecurity. Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to advance platform capabilities (e.g., cloud-native services, AI/ML for dispatch support, advanced GIS integration).
- Strategic Planning & Innovation: Lead long-term technical planning and establish architectural roadmaps that align with the organization's goals and NG911 evolution. Collaborate with product and program leadership to assess feasibility, cost, and architectural implications of new features or integrations. Identify and mitigate architectural risks early in the development lifecycle.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering teams to ensure architectural designs are implemented effectively and efficiently. Coordinate with public safety agencies, telecom providers, and government partners to ensure compliance with NG911 mandates and standards.
