Job Position: Head of IT Engineering

Job Location: Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time

Role Purpose

• The Head of Engineering will lead the Group’s software engineering function, driving the design, development and delivery of secure, scalable and innovative digital products across the insurance and financial services business
• The role will provide strategic leadership across engineering, enterprise architecture, DevSecOps, API ecosystems and technology delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the Group’s engineering strategy in alignment with business and digital transformation objectives.

• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams across backend, frontend, mobile and quality assurance.

• Own the end-to-end delivery of enterprise applications, digital platforms and strategic products, including TrustFort.

• Establish engineering standards, coding practices, Agile delivery frameworks and technical governance.

• Design and oversee scalable microservices, API-first and enterprise application architectures.

• Drive DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, secure software development and release governance.

• Ensure seamless integration across CRM, payment gateways, AI services, partner platforms and other enterprise systems.

• Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, including AI and automation, to enhance business capabilities.

• Partner with subsidiary Managing Directors and business leaders to translate business strategy into technology roadmaps.

• Oversee application modernization, solution architecture, vendor engineering and technology delivery across the Group.

• Build a high-performance engineering culture through coaching, mentoring and capability development.

• Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field; Master’s degree is an advantage.

• 8–10 years’ experience in software engineering, with at least 4 years in engineering leadership.

• Proven experience delivering enterprise platforms within the financial services or insurance sector.

• Strong expertise in Java/Spring Boot, microservices, API architecture, DevSecOps and Agile delivery.

• Experience with AI solution integration, enterprise architecture and technology transformation.
